To obtain the films

Simply request the compilation by emailing libraries@nfb.ca.

You will receive the link for the MP4 file for the compilation via WeTransfer. You can also request the films as individual files.

While we encourage the use of the MP4 file(s), you can also request the file(s) on a DVD or Blu-ray disc.

Steps to follow

  1. Specify the date, time and location of your screening(s) in your email to libraries@nfb.ca.
  2. The NFB will provide you with additional promotional materials, images and resources, if these have been created for the film. This material can help you promote the film and start a conversation after the screening, if you wish. When you receive the films, download and test them to ensure compatibility with your equipment.
  3. When promoting your event, include the NFB logo, a link to nfb.ca, or a description indicating that the compilation is a selection offered by the NFB.

5. After each screening (or on a weekly or monthly basis), send the total number of spectators to libraries@nfb.ca. This number may be approximate.

Downloaded MP4 files must be deleted after the event or at the end of the summer. The NFB is committed to respecting copyright restrictions and, by extension, the work of the artists, technicians and professionals who participated in these productions. All DVDs and Blu-ray discs must be returned to the NFB by mail or destroyed if you are unable to return them.

If you would like to keep a film in your library’s collection, you can purchase it by contacting customer service at info@nfb.ca.

*Your library cannot use online streaming from nfb.ca for in-person screenings. It would violate the rights related to the productions. However, you can obtain public performance rights to NFB films. To learn more about this subject, or for any other questions, please contact the NFB.
