The NFB, in partnership with the Sommets du cinéma d’animation, is pleased to invite you to an Artist’s Talk with Dahee Jeong.

Dahee Jeong is a Korean animation director based in Gwacheon, South Korea. She studied Communication Design in Seoul, and after working in advertising she went on to receive her master’s degree in Animation at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Dahee has been working as an independent animation filmmaker and producer since 2013. Her first film, Man on the Chair (2014), was shown at the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes and won the Cristal Grand Prix at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The Empty (2016) won the Grand Prix at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival and was screened at more than 100 festivals around the world. Dahee was invited to the animation residency at Fontevraud Abbey, France, in 2013, and in 2017 she was invited to the mentoring residency at the Cinémathèque québécoise. Her last film, Movements (2019), was also screened at the Directors’ Fortnight. Dahee is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and has been teaching in the department of Visual Communication Design at Hongik University in Seoul.

Join us at the Alanis-Obomsawin Theatre of the NFB for this unique opportunity to meet this acclaimed filmmaker. Come and watch Dahee Jeong’s films at an exclusive screening that will be followed by a Q&A headed by Marco de Blois! The director is at the NFB to complete post-production on her latest film, Society of Clothes, from which an excerpt will be shown. This short is a co-production between Miyu Productions, Between the Pictures and the NFB. This promises to be a special event and a deep dive into the creative world of a talented artist.
