She studied Communication Design in Seoul\, and after working in advertisi ng she went on to receive her master’s degree in Animation at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Dahee has been worki ng as an independent animation filmmaker and producer since 2013. Her firs t film\, Man on the Chair (2014)\, was shown at the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes and won the Cristal Grand Prix at the Annecy International Anim ation Film Festival. The Empty (2016) won the Grand Prix at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival and was screened at more than 100 festiva ls around the world. Dahee was invited to the animation residency at Fonte vraud Abbey\, France\, in 2013\, and in 2017 she was invited to the mentor ing residency at the Cinémathèque québécoise. Her last film\, Movement s (2019)\, was also screened at the Directors’ Fortnight. Dahee is a mem ber of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and has been teachi ng in the department of Visual Communication Design at Hongik University i n Seoul.\n\nJoin us at the Alanis-Obomsawin Theatre of the NFB for this un ique opportunity to meet this acclaimed filmmaker. The director is at the NFB to complete post-pr oduction on her latest film\, Society of Clothes\, from which an excerpt w ill be shown. This short is a co-production between Miyu Productions\, Bet ween the Pictures and the NFB.
