We’re pleased to invite you to an Artist’s Talk featuring filmmaker Alex Boya.

Born in Bulgaria, Boya is a Montreal-based animator and filmmaker known for his surreal, hand-drawn storytelling. A former participant in the 10th edition of the Hothouse mentorship program, he continued to develop his singular style with the short film Turbine (2018).

In his most recent project, Bread Will Walk, Boya reprises his exploration of dystopian absurdity, crafting worlds where the grotesque and poetic intersect, and questioning the boundaries between human and object—and the logic that binds them.

During this presentation, Alex will discuss the “baking-of” his latest—and most delicious—short film. The filmmaker will reveal some of the most unique and surprising aspects of the creative and technological recipe behind Bread Will Walk, which had its world premiere in the Directors’ Fortnight program in Cannes.

As space is limited, please RSVP by Sunday, September 28, to D.Forget@nfb.ca.
