Reel Injun is a powerful documentary that explores the history of Indigenous representation in film and the stereotypes that Hollywood helped create and reinforce. Through archival footage, film clips, interviews and director Neil Diamond’s personal journey, the documentary examines how these portrayals shaped public perceptions of Indigenous peoples and continue to influence popular culture today.
Reel Injun invites audiences to look critically at the familiar images of “Indians” in Western films while centering Indigenous voices, experiences, humour, and perspectives.
