The NFB, in partnership with the Sommets du cinéma d’animation, is pleased to invite you to an Artist’s Talk with Véronique Paquette

In parallel with her work as an animator, Véronique has been a dancer for more than two decades, a practice that has served as a wellspring of creativity. She shares her fascination with movement through her works. Over the years, she has increasingly explored traditional animation though both short and feature-length films, and multidisciplinary collaborations are an important part of her work overall.

In this dynamic one-hour talk, the filmmaker will discuss the creative process behind her short film LOCA. A tango-infused visual poem, the film follows a woman as she plunges into the tempest that will allow her to redefine herself.

In the film, Véronique, a member of the Argentine tango community, “partners” with ink to inject new life into her artistic practice. Completed in 2024, this vibrant short with its bold lines is an exhilarating breath of fresh air.

Véronique Paquette was the winner of the 23rd Cinéaste recherché(e) competition held by the NFB French Program Animation Studio.

*This talk will be given in French.
