Îlot Balmoral – Alanis Obomsawin Theatre
1501, rue de Bleury, Montreal, Quebec, H3A 2J2
The NFB, in partnership with the Sommets du cinéma d’animation, is pleased to invite you to an Artist’s Talk with Lynn Smith.
Lynn Smith has been creating animated films since 1969, during which time she’s been drawn like a magnet to animating directly under the camera. Lynn is looking forward to detailing her process, especially the various techniques she has explored and how their inherent qualities have helped to guide and influence the way she tells her stories.
Lynn will be highlighting her latest film, What Rhymes with Toxic, an ecological story that’s both funny and deadly serious. In gouache paint and collage, she tells the tale of a turtle who, in her desperate hour, summons up the courage to leave her home and speak truth to power.
Some of her other innovative and award-winning films include The Shout It Out Alphabet Film, “Teacher, Lester Bit Me!”, Happy Birthday, Purple Hat, This Is Your Museum Speaking, The Sound Collector, Pearl’s Diner, Sandburg’s Arithmetic, Siena and Soup of the Day.
FREE ADMISSION but RSVP required.
Please email B.Ahmad@nfb.ca prior to December 7th.
Masks are mandatory.
