The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) is gearing up for the 2025 edition of the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie. This year, the NFB will be celebrating 20 years of collaboration with all the country’s francophone and francophile organizations and institutions!
About the RVF
The Rendez-vous de la Francophonie (RVF) is a cross-Canada celebration of the French language, and one of the largest cultural events organized by The Canadian Foundation for Cross-Cultural to celebrate la Francophonie. It is held annually from March 1 to March 31. The NFB has been taking part in the RVF since 2006 through a series of free screenings in venues across the country, from coast to coast, from the Great Lakes to the Arctic, offering a programming lineup that changes from year to year.
This commitment to promoting francophone culture in communities across Canada is integral to the NFB’s work, as evidenced by its long-standing partnership with the RVF. This commitment is also part of the NFB’s responsibility as a Canadian public institution that serves the public. The NFB plays a key role in supporting French-Canadian culture, in particular as a signatory since 2002 to the Collaboration Agreement for the Development of Arts and Culture in the Francophone Minority Communities of Canada, which creates ties between many federal institutions (including the NFB) and the Fédération culturelle canadienne-française.
In addition to its annual involvement in the RVF, the NFB also screens works that highlight French-Canadian culture at film festivals and, through public libraries and community screenings.
Ultimately, these works only become truly meaningful through the kind of audience interaction made possible by celebration like RVF or as eventful. And what better way to bring to light the diverse origins, vast cultural wealth, and multifaceted experiences of Canada’s francophonie.
As in past years, any cultural organization, institution, school, library or even group of friends that would like to organize a free screening of NFB films can register with us and receive one or more of our six programs, curated to celebrate the extended Francophonie family.
