DESCRIPTION:artsPlace and the Town of Canmore are presenting a free screeni
 ng of WaaPaKe (Tomorrow) in honour of The National Day for Truth and Recon
 ciliation on September 30th. Together and with the community\, the aim of 
 this event is to create space for learning\, listening\, and building stro
 nger relationships with Indigenous Peoples and communities.\nWaaPake (Tomo
 rrow) - directed by Jules Arita Koostachin (2023\, 80 min) \n\nIn Swampy 
 Cree\, the word WaaPaKe means tomorrow—and as Attawapiskat filmmaker Jul
 es Koostachin says in her deeply personal documentary\, “Tomorrow means 
 hope. It means that we have a future.”\n\nA powerful film about intergen
 erational trauma and healing\, examined through an Indigenous lens\, WaaPa
 Ke reveals the reality of living in the shadow of residential school expe
 riences and explores ways in which we can change the narrative to one that
  offers hope and a view to the future. The film creates a space for reflec
 tion and discussion so that the descendants of residential school survivor
 s may respond to this shared burden of history and confront the cyclical n
 ature of intergenerational trauma in their own lives and beyond.\n\n“…
