DESCRIPTION:JIA Foundation and Miao Collective are collaborating once again
  to present three documentaries from three Asian women filmmakers. Dancin
 g Bodies\, Meandering Stories showcases\, through personal journeys and a
 rchival research\, a number of great performers within the Chinese diaspor
 a. Please join them on February 15th for their screening of\n\nThe Magical
  Life of Long Tack Sam - directed by Ann Marie Fleming (2003\, 78 min)\n\n
 Filmmaker Ann Marie Fleming travels the globe to piece together the story 
 of her great-grandfather\, the cosmopolitan Long Tack Sam – an internati
 onally renowned Chinese acrobat and magician who overcame isolation\, pove
 rty\, cultural and linguistic barriers\, extreme racism and world wars to 
 become one of the most successful acts of his time. This first-person road
  movie celebrates the spirit of Long Tack Sam's magic and art in a richly 
 textured and exhilarating testament to his legacy.\n\nThe film is in Engli
 sh and will be presented with French subtitles.\n\nAnn Marie Fleming will 
 be joining via zoom for a post-screening Q&amp\;A!\n\nAnn Marie Fleming is
  an independent filmmaker whose award-winning work in animation\, live-act
 ion drama and documentary\, in both short and long formats\, often deals w
 ith themes of family\, history\, and memory. Born in Japan of Chinese\, Au
 strian and Australian heritage\, she calls Vancouver\, B.C. her home.\n\nC
 an I Get A Witness? (2024)\, her latest feature\, featuring Sandra Oh\, Ke
 ira Jang and Joel Oulette\, premiered at the Toronto International Film Fe
 stival and is on TIFF’s Top 10 list of Canadian Films for 2024. Window H
 orses (2016)\, featuring the voices of Sandra Oh\, Shoregh Aghdashloo\, El
 liot Page and Omid Abtahi\, received the Asia Pacific Screen Award for Bes
 t Animated Feature. Both The Magical Life of Long Tack Sam and Window Hors
