  Indigenous filmmaker Janine Windolph and the Nakoda AV Club. Stay for a d
 iscussion with the artists to explore the themes of family\, community\, h
 ealing and connecting to the land. Featuring\n\nStories Are In Our Bones (
 Janine Windolph| 2019 | 11 min 17 s)\n\nIn this layered short film\, film
 maker Janine Windolph takes her young sons fishing with their kokum (gra
 ndmother)\, a residential school survivor who retains a deep knowledge and
  memory of the land.  The act of reconnecting with their homeland is a cu
 ltural and familial healing journey for the boys\, who are growing up in t
 he city. It’s also a powerful form of resistance for the women.\n\nscree
 ning with:\n\nOur Maternal Home (Janine Windolph | 2023 | 27 min)\nFilmma
 ker and educator Janine Windolph ventures from Saskatchewan to Quebec with
  her two teens and younger sister\, tracing their familial origins to the 
 Cree First Nation of Waswanipi. Against the scenic backdrop of these Tradi
 tional Lands\, Elders offer newfound interdependence and hands-on learning
 \, transforming this humble visit into a sensory-filled expression of recl
 amation and resilience. Our Maternal Home lovingly establishes a heart-c
 entred form of resistance to confront and heal from the generational impac
 ts of cultural disconnection\, making space for what comes next.\n\n\n\nDi
