SUMMARY:Laxwesa Wa: Strength of the River in Port Coquitlam
DESCRIPTION:Join the City of Port Coquitlam for a special film screening in
  recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Through the
  powerful National Film Board of Canada documentary Laxwesa Wa: Strength o
 f the River\, participants are invited to reflect on Indigenous knowledge\
 , storytelling\, cultural resilience\, and the enduring relationship betwe
 en people\, community\, and the land.\nLaxwesa Wa: Strength of the River (
 dir. Barb Cranmer\, 1995\, 54 minutes) explores the history\, culture\, an
 d resilience of the Stó꞉lō people through the story of the Fraser Rive
 r and its significance to Indigenous communities. The film offers a powerf
 ul perspective on the deep connections between the river\, the land\, lang
 uage\, culture\, and generations of Stó꞉lō people.\nThis screening pro
 vides an opportunity to listen\, learn\, and reflect on Indigenous perspec
 tives and lived experiences\, while considering the ongoing importance of 
 reconciliation. Participants are invited to engage with the film as a star
 ting point for deeper understanding and reflection.\nThis event is free an
