DESCRIPTION:As part of their National Addictions Awareness Week activities\
 , Lethbridge Polytechnic would like to invite you a free public screening 
 of the award-winning NFB documentary\, Kímmapiiyipitssini: The Meaning of
  Empathy. The film will play twice: on Tuesday\, November 26th at 4:15 pm 
 and on Saturday\, November 30th at 1:00 pm at the Lethbridge Polytechnic E
 C Fredericks Theatre (CE1365). Free popcorn and beverages will also be pro
 vided! All are welcome.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nKímmapiiyipitssini: The Meaning of 
 Empathy (Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers | 2021 | 124 min)\n\nElle–Máijá Ta
 ilfeathers’ film witnesses radical and profound change in her community.
  Kímmapiiyipitssini: The Meaning of Empathy is an intimate portrait of 
 survival\, love and the collective work of healing in the Kainai First Nat
 ion in Southern Alberta\, a Blackfoot community facing the impacts of subs
 tance use and a drug-poisoning epidemic.\n\nCommunity members active in ad
 diction and recovery\, first responders and medical professionals implemen
 t harm reduction to save lives. This work is contextualized within the his
 torical and contemporary impacts of settler colonialism\; Kímmapiiyipits
 sini: The Meaning of Empathy draws a connecting line between the effects 
 of colonial violence on Blackfoot land and people and the ongoing substanc
 e-use crisis.\n\nHeld in love and hope for the future\, Kímmapiiyipitssi
 ni: The Meaning of Empathy asks the audience to be a part of this remarka
