SUMMARY:Indigenous Films for NDTR at the Welland Museum
DESCRIPTION:Join the Welland Historical Museum and the City of Welland for 
 a special morning and evening of film as we continue our reflections on Tr
 uth and Reconciliation.\nFollowing the National Day for Truth and Reconcil
 iation flag-raising ceremony at City Hall\, we will present a selection of
  powerful films from the National Film Board that explore Indigenous histo
 ry\, resilience\, family\, leadership and the ongoing journey toward recon
 ciliation.\nThe program features Honour to Senator Murray Sinclair (dir. A
 lanis Obomsawin\, 2021\, 29 min)\, reflecting on the legacy of the Truth 
 and Reconciliation Commission and the importance of confronting difficult 
 truths\; Six Miles Deep (dir. Sara Roque\, 2009\, 43 min)\, which highligh
 ts the strength and leadership of the clan mothers of the Haudenosaunee Co
 nfederacy during the 2006 Caledonia land dispute\; and Birth of a Family (
 dir. Tasha Hubbard\, 2017\, 79 min)\, the moving story of four siblings s
 eparated by the Sixties Scoop as they come together to reconnect with thei
 r shared history and one another.\nScreenings will take place at 10:30 a.m
 .\, following the flag-raising ceremony at City Hall\, and again at 5:30 p
 .m. Light refreshments will be provided at both screenings.\nThese films o
 ffer an opportunity to listen\, learn and reflect\, not only on the histor
 y that brought us here\, but on the relationships\, understanding and acti
 ons needed to move forward together on the path toward reconciliation.\nTh
