DESCRIPTION:As part of THE NFB IN LIBRARIES programming\, the Millennium Li
 brary will present Incandescence.\nIncandescence | directed by Nova Ami &
 amp\; Velcrow Ripper |  2024 |104 min.\n\nEvery summer\, wildfires increa
 singly ravage places around the globe\, darkening the skies with thick smo
 ke and reducing communities to little more than ash and debris. Award-winn
 ing directors Nova Ami and Velcrow Ripper weave together immersive on-the-
 ground footage with first-person accounts from Indigenous Elders\, first r
 esponders\, and ordinary people forced to react to a rapidly evolving ecos
 ystem. As climate change continues to escalate\, full suppression measure
 s have largely failed\, leading to bigger\, more intense mega-fires. But t
 here is another way. Indigenous knowledge keepers explain that the First N
 ations people traditionally used controlled burns to regenerate the land. 
 Honouring the experience of both human and non-human inhabitants\, the fil
 m transforms our understanding of fire from destruction and disaster into
