DESCRIPTION:The NFB\, in partnership with the Sommets du cinéma d’animat
 ion\, is pleased to invite you to an Artist’s Talk with Arash Akhgari.\n
 \nAn Iranian-born\, Montreal-based animator and visual artist\, Arash inco
 rporates different traditional techniques into audiovisual explorations th
 at often address individual or social disconnect. His films An Echoing Mem
 ory of a Tongue\, Out of Touch and The Thing Is Lost have been screened an
 d awarded at many international and national film festivals. His work was 
 also featured on CBC Arts and Radio-Canada.\n\nDuring this event\, the fil
 mmaker will discuss the creative process behind his latest animated short\
 , In the Shallows\, his first collaboration with the National Film Board o
 f Canada. Through a carefully choreographed collision of hand-made sculptu
 ral collages and ink and paint animation\, this four-minute film takes us 
 on a deep dive into the shallow and fragmented world of news\, entertainme
 nt and ads\, where we can easily drown in the dangerous allure of mass-med
