SUMMARY:Artist’s talk with Janice Nadeau
DESCRIPTION:The NFB\, in partnership with the Sommets du cinéma d'animatio
n\, is pleased to invite you to an Artist’s Talk with Janice Nadeau. \n
In this one-hour masterclass\, the filmmaker will talk about the creativ
e process behind her most recent film\, Harvey. \n\nJanice Nadeau is a pr
ofessor at UQAM’s École de design\, where she teaches drawing and illus
tration. She holds a masterès in film studies from Université de Montré
al and a bachelor’s in graphic design from Université du Québec à Mon
tréal. As part of her doctoral studies\, she is currently conducting art-
focused research that experiments with the intersection of conventional dr
awing and computer graphics. This project is an extension of her personal
artistic journey\, in which she has often explored concepts of materiality
and temporality in images through both static images and animation.  \n
\nJanice Nadeau has illustrated ten books\, earning her three prestigious
Governor General’s Literary Awards in the Children’s Literature — Il
lustration category. She has also co-directed and directed the animated fi
lms Nul poisson où aller (No Fish Where to Go) and Mamie\, both selected
for official competition in over 50 international festivals and winners of
\, among other awards\, the Japan Foundation President’s Prize (2014) an
d a FIPRESCI Prize (2014). \n\nCoproduced by the NFB and Folimage by Marc
Bertrand (NFB) and Corinne Destombes (Folimage)\, Harvey is an animated s
hort based on the eponymous graphic novel by Hervé Bouchard and illustrat
ed by Nadeau (éditions de La Pastèque) about a small boy who openly reco
unts the spring when his world was turned upside-down. The film was world
premiered at the most recent edition of the Clermont-Ferrand International
Short Film Festival and was backed by an exceptional team\, including ani
mation leads Claude Cloutier and Marc Robinet\, sound designer Olivier Cal
vert\, and composer Martin Léon.  \n\n*This talk will be given in Frenc
 h.\n\nhttps://vimeo.com/781938905\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;
